What is Lectio Divina?

Lectio Divina is a traditional Catholic practice of scriptural reading, meditation, and prayer intended to promote communion with God. During our evening together, we will move through the four classic steps of this divine reading:
  1. Lectio (Reading): We read a short Bible passage slowly and repeatedly until a specific word or phrase catches your attention.
  2. Meditatio (Reflecting): We think deeply about that word or phrase, letting it sink into our hearts without rushing, reflecting on what God is saying to us.
  3. Oratio (Responding): We respond to the word in prayer, sharing how God has inspired, comforted, or challenged us through the text.
  4. Contemplatio (Contemplating): We sit quietly in holy silence, resting peacefully in the presence of God and letting His love transform us.
Come take a break from the noise of the world and rest in the Word of God with your parish family. We look forward to praying with you!
